Tameside South Scouts Special Fund
(in Honour of Sandra Marsden)

The Denton and Hyde Special Fund has been set up to provide support and assistance to the Groups and partnered Explorer Units named below to improve, develop and expand Scouting within that collection of groups and units.

1st Newton + 1st Newton ESU
1st Mottram & Broadbottom
3rd Gee Cross + 3rd Gee Cross ESU
3rd Newton + Seabourne ESU
4th Denton + Haughton Valley ESU
5th Hyde + 5th Hyde ESU

Applications can be submitted by any member of the above Groups or Units.

Applications for assistance with the cost of any project which will benefit and improve the standard of scouting within these Groups and Units will be considered. Assistance may take the form of a loan, a grant or a combination of the two.

If a loan is granted the level of interest will be defined at the time the loan is set up but will not exceed the Bank of England interest rate prevailing at the time the loan is set up.

Applications will be considered and approved by Tameside South District Trustee Board or in the event that the District ceases to exist by a panel made up from the senior members of the above named Groups and Units

All applications for assistance from the Fund should be submitted on the official form to the District Chair and should be accompanied by the following documents:

1.  A copy of the current and previous year Group Accounts                       

2.  A full description of what the financial assistance is to be used for and where appropriate a formal estimate for the items to be purchased or the work to be carried out.

3.  Details of any fund raising that is planned or has taken place by the Group or Unit to raise their own funds for the project.

4.  Details of any applications for grant applications made to other sources to cover some or all the project costs. The result of any applications must be notified to the Trustees as soon as it is known.

If an application is approved as a loan to a Group or Unit a proposed repayment plan with dates set out for repayment and the method of payment to be agreed e.g. bank transfer, standing order etc. The Group or Unit receiving the award is required to complete the End of Project report once the monies awarded has been spent.. Receipts will be required.

Should the Group or Unit cease to exist within an agreed period after the award of a loan, then the loan made by this fund will be required to be repaid in full to the Fund.

The decision of the District Trustee Board is final and there is no right to appeal. Information on why an award has been refused can be requested by writing to the District Chair.
